President and Founder

In her former role as the president/CEO of an owner/operator of a mid-sized retirement residence portfolio, Miri Hadas Koller combined a high-level overview of the every-day operations of retirement residences, with the details of the roles and systems required to make it work. Her passion is people, and so HR and the creation of an engaged team, was where she concentrated her attention. In Miri’s 17 years in the sector she led the growth of a portfolio from 2 retirement homes to 9, she served on the ORCA board, and created long-lasting relationships with leaders in the sector.    

VP Operations

With 25 years experience in the sector, Elisabete Garcia-Refai has worked in a range of positions in the sector from mid-management to many years as an Executive Director of a retirement residence. With a proven track record of improving operational efficiency, increasing resident satisfaction, and enhancing staff retention and development, Elisabete has built teams by creating a positive and supportive culture that fosters collaboration, engagement, and growth for all staff members.  She built teams, managed every aspect of operations, wrote policies, hired and trained team members, managed relationships with families and regulators, and mentored other EDs. Her experience includes opening retirement residences, putting in place all necessary policies and procedures, planning the staffing and the budget required, and engaging all the necessary service providers.

VP Administration

Avi Koller joined the sector 10 years ago in the role of business office manager, and was promoted to Assistant-Executive Director. He was responsible not only for the administrations of payroll, billing and management of employee benefits and training, but also managed the team and ensured that the residents’ needs and wants were met by the home. He has experience managing many of the building systems, and the relations with the residence’s service providers. 

Controller

Marilyn Lachapelle has more than 20 years’ experience as Controller for a chain of retirement homes.  Her skilled acumen includes high level financial reporting for all stakeholders including owners, senior management, and financial institutions; budget preparation and variance analysis; new acquisition due diligence; accounting software implementation; development and implementation of financial policies, procedures and internal controls; identifying cost savings; and mentoring financial staff.     Marilyn’s commitment to high ethical and professional standards have earned her a well regarded reputation.
